Zoho Sheet provides internet users with an easier way to create, edit and manage their spreadsheets over the internet. Zoho Sheet can be used for anything, from professional data storage and organization to planning a trip or other personal endeavor. The application allows users to create a new spreadsheet or access and edit existing ones without installing any software. Rather than attaching a cumbersome spreadsheet to an email, the user can instead share the document through Zoho by setting it to public view. Users can give permission to other users to work on a spreadsheet simultaneously. Users can also copy and paste from Excel or import an Excel spreadsheet to Zoho. The application also includes advanced features like pivot tables and VBA macros. Users can sync their spreadsheets with remote data from the internet as well. The Zoho Sheet API is available for developers.

What is the history and popularity of the app?

Zoho Sheet is yet another product developed by the Zoho company. The Zoho family includes Zoho Wiki, Planner, Meeting, Creator, Writer, Mail, Chat, CRM, Notebook and Office Suite. The company was founded in September of 2005 and remains focused on producing cost effective solutions and web based applications.

What are the differences to other apps?

What makes Zoho Sheet so unique is the fact that is uses many of the same features as other spreadsheet applications. This makes it a competitor that may attract users through its association with the Zoho Office Suite. Office Suite users can now edit, create and collaborate on spreadsheets stored in Microsoft SharePoint.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

Any user who has used any of the other Zoho applications will immediately recognize the Zoho Sheet site layout and design. The brightly colored logo appears in the upper, left hand corner in yellow, blue, green and red. The spreadsheet pages look just like the standard Excel spreadsheet and allow users to easily organize data. Links at the bottom of the Spreadsheets homepage allow the user to access sample spreadsheets.

How does the registration process work?

A visitor can join the community of other Zoho users by clicking the blue underlined “Sign Up” link found along the right hand side of the page. Below the link, users can also find four small icons that allow them to sign in using Yahoo, Google, Facebook or a Google Apps account. The simple registration form asks for an email address, password and username. The user must also successfully enter the word verification code and check the terms of service and privacy policy box at the bottom of the form. A second box is present for anyone who would like to register for the Zoho newsletter, however this is not required to maintain an account.

What does it cost to use the application?

All user can create a Zoho account for free. The company does not require a subscription or other fee to maintain an account. Spreadsheets is included for free. As long as the user registers, they can access Spreadsheets and many of the other Zoho applications.

Who would you recommend the application to?

Zoho Sheet is ideal for anyone who uses spreadsheets frequently. The application makes it easier to collaborate over the web. Users can also perform many of the same editing functions as they can with Excel spreadsheets. Excel users can also import and export to Zoho.
